David Attenborough – Hunter-Gatherer Persistence Hunt

WARNING: Please be advised this video contains scenes of an animal being killed. These scenes are near the end of this video. Persistence hunting is a type of hunting where the hunter uses a combination of running and tracking to pursue the prey to exhaustion. Nowadays, it is very rare and seen only in a few groups such as Kalahari bushmen and the Tarahumara or Raramuri people of Northern Mexico. Persistence hunting requires endurance running – running many miles for extended periods of time. Among primates endurance running is only seen in humans, and persistence hunting is thought to have been one of the earliest forms of human hunting, having evolved 2 million years ago. Haha wow.

But will he drag the whole animal back home to his village, or will he just take parts of the animal and bring home? I mean they ran for hours and hours, it will take ages for him to get the animal back

It would be hilarious to intercut a very serious and similarly-narrated video clips of an average American “running” (getting out of his car and waddling across the parking lot) to “hunt” (fishing dollars out of a wallet) “the prey” (a Carl’s Jr. cheeseburger).

“Only one man will undertake it, Johnny Roland – the accountant from Price Waterhouse.”

“Who will collapse first? His heart or his knees.”

As far as outrunning, the Raramuri Indians from mexico can outrun the local deer too. But not many tribes, like this one and the Raramuri can do that

Sands bushmen have some of the
most original genome from which all
humans share…..It would also take one
a very long time to acclimate to indoor
