This is amazing footage and a great video that shows the intelligence and strength of the Golden Eagle. from 5:13 – 5:50 the bird is actually flying with something that out weighs it by maybe 30 – 45lbs that’s like 3x it’s own weight being that they only weigh anywhere from 10-15 lbs on avg.

I see what you mean, i had a barn owl and once it flew on my back and i had to have 12 stitches. But if you upscale that to an eagle that goats brain probably went POP.

Because the eagle has a death grip on it’s head. an eagle can crush a human skull with it’s talons. imagine 1200+ psi pressure with sharp dagger like talons on the end… it would kill almost anything with that. they have more force behind their talons than a German Shepard dog does behind it’s bite.

@chomps101 mix of shock and the power of the eagles talons, can put huge pressure onto a small area like the ibex skull

5:18, how does the goat die ?

I guess one could stipulate a distinction between feelings and emotions (e.g., emotions being “higher-order” feelings such as sorrow). I draw the ethical line at the ability to feel raw pain, however.

  12. joshmb24 says:

Regarding animal emotions, I would assume you are referring to pachyderms and primates in that they mourn their dead right?

  13. theyerdahl says:

The goal of the human life form is clearly also the perpetuation of genes. How else did our global numbers reach a worrisome 6+ billion and rising? It wasn’t by careful planning, I can tell you that.

Instincts do not preclude feelings. And there’s certainly a myriad of examples of human parents sacrificing themselves for the sake of their offspring, just as elsewhere in nature.

The main reason ants are so succesful is that their hive is essentially a “superorganism” of sorts.

  14. joshmb24 says:

The goal of any life form that is non human is the perpetuation of his genes. To me, animals will sacrifice their lives for this purpose and to me it isn’t based on emotional feelings at all. You have a great argument and I would love to hear which animals you are referring to that exhibit these emotions.

One question regarding evolution, if all life has to adapt in stages of evolution then what about ants? How come they dont adapt are perfectly flawless in every way?

  15. suckerpunsh says:

    no way!

  16. theyerdahl says:

@joshmb24 That animals have consciousness? Yes.

“But how do you KNOW?” you ask. “You can’t just ask them.”

No, but I can provide examples of animal behavior which make no sense whatsoever UNLESS one assumes the ability to feel.

    “Pain shreaks, you mean?”

No. Pain shreaks may just be threat signals when the animal is hurt, which doesn’t entail feelings at all. No, the truly unexplainable phenomena involves intelligence and voluntariness.

    “Such as?”

Do a video search on “monkey masturbation”.

  17. joshmb24 says:

Since animals don’t have a soul I dont think anything that goes on in nature’s balance matters too much does it? Humans are like a consciousness with an outlook. Can you say the same for a animal?

  21. theyerdahl says:

I am saying that if animals are not responsible for their cruelty, then

    (a) whoever designed them are responsible, or

    (b) if no one designed them, then no one is responsible, and cruelty just is.

There is no room for a good God in this world.

  22. rekingooo says:

    gods not real

  23. jaymitchnj says:

I don’t understand what you’re trying to say.

Monkey’s diets consist of 98% vegetarian. They also have canine teeth, and it’s pretty much common knowledge we’ve evolved from them.

And I’m not religious, so drop the god argument.

  24. theyerdahl says:

@ jaymitchnj And who made animals have to eat? God.

And who made animals eat things that can feel and suffer? Why the heck aren’t all animals vegetarians?

  25. theyerdahl says:

But God is supposedly not cruel.
