@RenegadeMystic Pushups and pullups are EXCELLENT–But NOT cardio. And that’s ok ;cause this guy is on target. I EXPECT heart rates of 150 + BPM during our resistance training session sets. We start the next set when heart rate come back DOWN to 120-130, then hit it and ramp it up again by the end of the resistance training set. A “cardio cat” (fatty–typical) came into my group strength and couldn’t complete–too gassed/out of breathe…..Hmmmm……..

@MoonRader85 Except i dont (do cardio) and i do (have visible abs) yet I am 51 Y.O. Your diet is off. no question.

lol i do both cardio and weights 1hr cardio in morning 1hr weighs in evening 3 days a week, a person just doing weights will not be able to run on a tread mill for no ore then 10 min without huffing and puffing as i found out the other day, like wise i can do much more weighs as a result of cardio workout and for longer then my brother who trains with me who just does weight in other words for every one cardio is king and i have to say out of respect that nash is wronge i talk out of experience

  10. kleenex3000 says:

    I respectfully disagree.
    Cardio means FOR the heart.
Weight training for itself can eventually become detrimental to the heart.
Give yourself a minimum of 30 min at a HeartPulse of upto 150 /min twice a week.

  11. MoonRader85 says:

WHOS WRONG AND WHOS RIGHT? i DONOT CARE. tHE ONLY THING I KNOW ID THAT IF YOU WANT A 6 PACK YOU NEED TO DO CARDIO!!!!

  12. kingofcraig says:

I hear him. I wouldn’t agree with him a 100%. Both forms of exercise (weights&cardio) are important.

You need a mixture of both if you are a normal person, by this I mean i non-sports person. Weights make you gain weight which is no good for long distant running, Non is long distant running good for building up the upper body.

Keep it simple, do a mixture of both and you will see a big improvement overall. :)

  13. ebagjim says:

Those guys with big bellys also eat seven times a day and some take roids which grow the stomach muscles. You are both wrong by the way as a combination of cardio and resistance training will give you optimal health, when combined with sound nutrition. You can’t out train a bad diet!!

  14. antixtheeloquator says:

This guy is wrong. Cardio is much more important than weight training. In fact at least 20 mins of straight cardio 3 times or more a week is recomended. It keeps your heart strong and your lung capacity high. Weights help increase your metabolism, give you shape but cardio is the most important. Cardio is also how you burn fat (although that can be done in interval training)-ever see those guys with big arms and a fat stomach?-that is what you get doing no cardio.

  15. Phuzz828 says:

silly to disregard one or the other but i see it as cardio just aids weight lifting & keeps u more subtle in the long run. .i know i can burn more calories lifting weights than just doing cardio because my heart rate is alot faster when lifting weights, so therefor i can become more slimn while building muscle mass.. but as has been said its a balance of both.

  16. nenzi671 says:

Lots of people would disagree with you on this subject Nash. Resistance training is important for many reasons & has multitudes of health benefits but I agree with kieranpaul. Cardio is more important for fat burning which anaerobic exercise cannot do as effectively.

  17. kieranpaul says:

this guy is rambling and is an idiot.
The primary energy system for weight training is creatine phosphate and anaerobic respiration not aerobic, or cardiovascular respiration, because the intensity is too high for the sustained absorption of O2.
Therefore the positive exercise effects of a true cardiovascular workout (increased SV, increased red blood cell count + capilerization and so on) as well as effective fat buring are not accomplished outside of aerobic activities.

im 16 i weigh 135 bench 175 squat 270 deadlift 375 and clean160 but i got a small layer of fat on lower abs that dont wana come off wat should i do?

  19. DarkHalmut says:

What proof? Running increases the strength of your immune systems many times over!

  20. ancxxxsold13r says:

wut u do to lose so much? im 18 and kinda overwieght tryin to lose it all then build muscle to look beasty yah dig

  21. CharlesWII says:

It seems pretty damn stupid to disregard cardiovascular training, at least if you’re an athlete.

  22. d2tb says:

Weight training is superior in terms of muscle growth and fat loss and burning calories…but it is NOT superior in terms of long term health and cardiac function. There should ALWAYS be some form of “aerobic” component to your routine, well, if you care about your heart.

  23. trumpet5432 says:

pump some iron, it tones the body

  24. silveradozzz says:

i just lost 150 lbs im still fat but what could i so to lose my under arm fat, u know the flabby part

  25. RenegadeMystic says:

You people need to stop this bullshit. I do intense weigthlifting (5 hours, 3 days a week) and I do martial arts training everyday. The truth is this, you need to do both cardio type exercises (like push-ups, running, sit-ups, pull-ups etc.) and weightlifting if you want to have endurance and be extremely strong. Its not one or the other, its both.
